Constant Elevation
With Montreal being home to an abundance of creatives, it’s not always easy to stick out amongst the crowd. To be singled out in the company of so many other talented individuals requires distinctive qualities. Constant Elevation praises a group of trailblazers whose innovation and persistence deserve recognition for setting themselves apart. Each of these artists is constantly trying new things and is endlessly working to perfect their craft, inspiring those around them to always strive for more. These are people who continuously create, innovate, and test their limits year after year, month after month, and day after day.
DESIGNER
Name: Noah aka Beamskii
Beamskii is the epitome of youth with his laissez-faire attitude. Storming onto the scene at the ripe age of 13 from a photoshoot with Malice Studios, Beamskii would go on to make his own personal statement on the fashion scene. With the inception of his own brand, Garden Party, Beamskii is one of the youngest to do it in the city. Following off his own laidback nature, Garden Party effortlessly produces cool shit, conceptualized straight from Beamskii himself.
RAPPER
NAME: TYLEEN JOHNSON
Making big moves is synonymous with Tyleen Johnson. Strutting onto the scene back in 2020 with nothing but confidence, Tyleen has been on the rise ever since. Working with other Montreal natives such as VNCE CARTER, Joe Rocca, and Tommy Kruise, she would go on to release her debut album, Fanta$y, and the hype continued to grow. All this talk about her isn’t for nothing, as she continues her climb with her recent record deal with New Regime Records, pointing towards more releases and more success in the near future.
ARTIST
NAME: Edward Reilly
While he may look young and new to the game, Edward Reilly is nothing short of a vet. Having spent over 10 years in the music scene, Edward is the vocal/rapping half of THe LYONZ, an electronic hip-hop fusion duo formed back in 2012. A multi-faceted creator, his desire to express his creativity has since expanded further than just his music, taking it upon himself to direct several of their music videos and elevating his skillset with the addition of photography, modelling, and graphic design. The group's decade-long hustle has landed gigs at some of the largest festivals in the world, like the Montreal and Montreux Jazz Festivals, and they don’t plan on slowing down.
DJ/COOK
NAME: SEVEN
Moving to another culture is always hard, but closing that cultural gap between yourself and your new neighbors is even harder. When Seven moved to Montreal from Kunming, China, she brought over two things that could never get lost in translation… music and food. A cook by day with Osmo x Marusan and a DJ by night, Seven also runs her own personal food venture “Have You Eaten?”. With an emphasis on her culture and good vibes, she's always dishing something new out for those around her, whether it be authentic Chinese cuisine or the funk house she’s playing night in and night out
DJ
NAME: NATHAN
They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and for Off The Hook's very own Nathan André-Cote, this is true. Growing up, his dad was an underground DJ, playing sets around clubs in Montreal. Although he grew up with a strong musical presence all his life, it wasn't until Nate got older that he would get himself in front of a turntable. Taking after his father, he started to realize his love for DJing smooth house beats. With his goals in sight and his grind in motion, DJ Nate AC's era of house in underway.
ACTIVIST
NAME: HIBA AKA BNTNESS
A voice of culture, a voice for women, a voice of the people. Hiba stands tall amidst all the noise to make sure the voice of injustice is heard. Shedding light on social injustices, Hiba uses her modeling career as a platform to stand for the underrepresented Hijabi community in the modeling and fashion world. Tackling important topics ranging from inequality, to systematic racism, Hiba is a voice to be heard.
CREATIVE
NAME: KYRON WARRICK
When we talk about streetwear in Montreal, Kyron Warrick’s name is always floating around. With humble beginnings as a kid who loved streetwear, Kyron’s documentation of his life in fashion on YouTube dates back to over 10 years ago. As streetwear grew in Montreal, we could always see through his own media that he was one step ahead of the curve. Kyron’s keen ability to pick out trends early and create unique style is what set him apart and what ultimately cemented him as a leading figure in Montreal’s fashion scene.
MUSICIAN
NAME: LYEN ROZA
Self made, self taught, Lyen Roza entered the game with nothing, and a few years later sits as a creative know-it-all. As an up and coming artist who used his love for alternative rock and hip-hop to create his own unique sound, Lyen has been making sure people know he’s no one trick pony. Not only has he been writing and producing all of his own music, but he’s self appointed himself as the sound engineer, video editor, and even clothing designer for all of his projects along the way. A true independent artist showing how it’s done.
ARTIST/MODEL
NAME: AZIZ
In a world as fast paced as today’s people forget to stop and feel. For Abdel-Aziz Dosso however, every move he makes is based on the emotions and feelings he encounters every day. Bursting onto the modeling scene in 2016, it wasn’t long before Aziz found himself walking for fashion houses such as Vetements and Marni to name but a few. Though humbly, one of his biggest takeaways was the connections he built. Channeling that energy, Aziz has expanded his creative vision into several avenues, from making music, to filmmaking, and even starting a creative collective, LINKSMTL, with the focal point being the story telling that he prides all of his work on.
