History of Vans: The Authentic

HISTORY OF VANS: THE AUTHENTIC

The Authentic was the first ever shoe that Vans manufactured, though upon its initial release, the now iconic shoe was originally named “Style #44”. The simplicity of the shoe highly contributed to the success of the model as it’s tame design, durability and ability to match with every outfit helped pave the way for the sneakers.

Due to the impact that the Authentic had, it’s blueprint was used to create Van’s next shoe, The Era. The Era used the design of the Authentic, though added extra padding to and details the shoe that fit the specifications desired by pro skaters at the time.

While some of Vans’ other classic models have surpassed the Authentics in modern day popularity, that hasn’t stopped the model from maintaining collaborative relevancy. With partnerships with some of the world’s most popular brands such as JJJJound, Patta, and WTAPS.

Nowadays, the biggest factor that contributes to the Authentic’s ongoing success is it’s inclusivity. Due to the easy to wear look, these shoes aren’t being adopted by any sole group, but instead they’re literally being worn by everyone around the world. From different sub-cultures to ages ranging from infancy to grandparenthood, the Authentic is a worldwide favorite.

As fashion evolves and new styles are brought to light, the Authentic will always remain, as just like it’s name, the shoe is genuine in what it represents and what it gives. The Style #44 will forever be an authentic piece in Vans’ history.
