SNEAKER EXCHANGE: SNEAKERSNSTUFF X SOCIAL STATUS
Taking inspiration from monochromatic luxury and applying it to athletic footwear, the second instalment of the adidas Originals Consortium Sneaker Exchange project revolves around the collaborative efforts of retailers Sneakersnstuff and Social Status. The Three Stripes has tapped the two retailers from Stockholm and North Carolina to work on versions of the UltraBOOST and the Superstar BOOST.
It's not the first time we see a luxurious iteration of the UltraBOOST courtesy of a Consortium collaboration, but, the SNS x Social Status version of the sneaker is a straight up homerun. With black suede wrapping the three stripes cage as well as premium leather detailing on the tongue, liner, and insole, SNS and Social Status' Sneaker Exchange successfully blends premium materials with the UltraBOOST's performance elements. The Primeknit upper sports a static black, white, and grey melange knit, which gives the sneaker a monochromatic appeal with help from murdered out SNS and Social Status embossed branding on the tongue and black on black UltraBOOST branding on the heel cup.
Shifting focus towards the first collaboration on a Superstar BOOST, SNS and Social Status' take on this model features some notable differences from the classic white and black colourway. The sneaker receives the same treatment as the UltraBOOST given the replacement of the Superstar's leather upper with the same static melange Primeknit. The black midsole and shell toe compliment the Primeknit upper keep up the monochromatic theme within the project, with white only making itself known through the exposed BOOST windows on the outsole and medial arch of the midsole. To complete the monochromatic pack, black leather detailing is implemented on the backtab of the heel as well as the insole and tongue where SNS and Social Status branding is embossed.
The adidas Originals Consortium x SNS x Social Status UltraBOOST will retail for $290 + taxes, and the Superstar BOOST $230 + taxes. Both pairs will be available on Saturday, March 4th at 11AM at both locations; any remaining pairs will be online at 1PM.
