OTH for Red Bull Music Academy Montréal

OTH FOR RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY MONTRÉAL

With Red Bull Music Academy Montréal coming to a close this weekend, we figured it was an appropriate time to shed some light on a project that meant a lot to this city and to us.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Academy, it brings together dozens of the brightest young minds in music from around the world and allows them to focus on creating music for 2 weeks. They are given the opportunity to learn from mentors and guests that included among others, for the Montreal edition, Mike Will Made It, Bjork, Chilly Gonzales, Just Blaze, and many, many more. Red Bull Music Academy also put on some memorable shows, including reuniting Montreal's famed Turbo Crunk for a night of madness, bass, and amazing music at Espace Reunion that will surely be remembered for years to come.

We worked with Red Bull Music Academy over the past few months to put together a collection of gear for participants and guests that would reflect how special the Academy is.

Inspired by participants' needs, as musicians, and Montreal's vibrant history as a hub for music in Canada and North America, we designed a collection featuring two t-shirts, a cap, two collectible pins, a tote bag, and a roll-top backpack.

The tote bag and two t-shirts were graphically inspired by the trends of the 1990s, when Montreal's electronic music scene was unparalleled and boasted some of the most creative DJs and best sound systems in North America. The roll-top backpack for its part was designed to meet the rigours of the modern musician's day-to-day life, and is equipped with water-tight zippers, and a protected pouch that perfectly fits an Ableton Push 2.

The collection was proudly produced in Canada. Check out some photos of the gear below, showcased in the incredible studios at the Phi Centre. If you haven't had a chance to check out the Academy yet, there are still a couple shows left! You can check that out here.
