Nous avons récemment eu l’occasion de rencontrer le chanteur/producteur Black Atlass sur un photoshoot pour Q n’A. Nous pensons qu’il s’agit là d’un des talents canadiens les plus prometteurs et 2013 s’annonce pour lui comme une grande année.
Parle-nous des points communs et de la chimie entre OTH et Black Atlass
Ça fait maintenant longtemps qu’OTH me soutient, c’est vraiment cool. J’ai travaillé avec l’équipe créa d’OTH par le passé, ça m’a permis de développer une relation naturelle avec eux car on partage beaucoup de passions communes et points de vue en matières de style, d’art ou de musique.
Qui ou quelles sont tes sources d’inspiration de manière générale ? (musiciens, artistes, blogs, livres etc…)
La musique, de nouvelles choses ou plus anciennes, a toujours été une de mes sources d’inspiration principales. Il n’y a rien de tel que d’écouter quelque chose pour la première fois et gagner en perspective grâce aux nouveaux matériaux que tu viens d’entendre. Écouter quelque chose qui repousse les frontières du son ouvre de nouvelles portes. J’aime trouver de nouvelles façons de recréer une émotion à partir de choses que j’ai entendu avant. Pour moi, ces inspirations et stimuli proviennent de différents artistes qui exercent dans différents domaines, qu’ils soient acteurs, réalisateurs, designers, peintres, photographes etc… Une fois que j’ai une source d’inspiration en tête, j’utilise mon expérience personnel pour créer quelque chose d’original qui a pour moi une signification particulière et personnelle.
Que réserve 2013 pour Black Atlass ?
Je veux être chaque jour aussi occupé et inspiré que possible. Il y aura de nouveaux morceaux, plus de concerts et des choses différentes sur d’autres plates-formes.

Describe what OTH and Black Atlass have in common that makes such a good chemistry?
OTH has been really supportive of me for a while now, which is really cool. Having worked with the OTH creative team in past, we have developed a relationship that feels very natural as we share many of the same beliefs and interests regarding style, music, and art.
Who/what do you look to for inspiration on a regular bases? (be it musicians, artists, blogs, books etc.)
Music, both old and new, is always inspiring to me. There’s nothing like hearing something for the first time and having your eyes widened by the way the material does something different to you. Hearing something new that pushes the boundaries of sound opens new doors. I like to come up with new ways to recreate the emotion I’ve heard from something. For me, this kind of excitement and inspiration can comes from artists of a multitude of genres, whether it be an actor, director, designer, painter, photographer, etc… Once I have the source of inspiration in my mind, I then draw from life experiences to create something personal, that has meaning to me…Something that is my own.
What is coming up for Black Atlass in 2013?
I want to be as busy and inspired as I can be in the time that I have each day. You can expect to see new material, more shows, and more output through multiple platforms.

NeoNinja – Jeremy Wirth x On and Beyond
Quelques années après leur rencontre à OTH, Jeremy Wirth (illustrateur) et Vincent Tsang (photographe) donnent naissance à un premier projet collaboratif, NeoNinja, qui ne risque pas d’être le dernier. NeoNinja est une représentation visuelle passerelle entre photographie et illustration qui dévoile les talents respectifs de ses créateurs. Les articles viennent presque tous de la Boutique et ce projet nous montre bien les mille et une possibilités de façonner son style chez OTH.

Beginning their relationship years ago at OTH, the NeoNinja project by Jeremy Wirth (illustrator), Vincent Tsang (photographer) is their first effort as a duo, but certainly won’t be their last. Having agreed on a concept that would showcase both of their respective talents, NeoNinja is a visual portrayal that bridges the gap between photography and illustration. Shot in practically all OTH garments, the project makes fine work of showcasing the endless ways to approach your personal style at OTH.

Voici un nouveau shoot réalisé avec les stylist Seth Levine. Seth a choisi des articles sport classiques pour cet ensemble mais sortis de leur contexte, ils donnent quelque chose de bien différent. Le survêtement Nike et le jersey de baseball ne sont pas des choix évidents, mais Seth a su les faire fonctionner.
Here’s another shoot we did with stylist Seth Levine. Seth chose some classic sportswear pieces for this look, but they are styled in a way that recontextualizes them. A baseball jersey and Nike sweats aren’t the most obvious choices for an outfit, but Seth certainly made it work.

Erik Brunetti a fait du chemin et a été pour nous une grande source d’inspiration. Nous avons eu la chance de rencontrer Erik il y a environ cinq ans dans un salon à Las Vegas. Pas faux pour un sou. Un gars fascinant, cultivé, éduqué et créatif. Un véritable exemple en matière d’intégrité d’une marque.
Erik Brunetti has come a long way, and has inspired us in many ways. We had the chance to meet Erik over five years ago, during a tradeshow in Las Vegas. He’s as real as they come. Fascinating dude, cultured, educated, creative. And a true example of what brand integrity is all about.
