On peut ne pas s’apercevoir de certains éléments plus subtiles du processus de création des meilleures lignes, mais il est bon qu’ils nous soient rappelés de temps en temps. Miles Johnson, le directeur design de Levi’s Made & Crafted , dévoile son inspiration derrière sa collection Printemps/Été 2013 ainsi que quelques autres détails au sujet de cette marque si spéciale.
Discovering the inspiration behind a brand we love inevitably makes us appreciate it so much more. Occasionally, more subtle elements that go into the creation of great lines get overlooked – so it’s nice to have them pointed out to us from time to time. In this video, Levi’s Made & Crafted design director, Miles Johnson, takes a moment to share the inspiration behind his Spring/Summer 2013 collection and a few other details that make this brand so special.

A Visit from Ugly Mely // Ugly Mely nous rend visite
Pendant son séjour à Montréal, Amel Mainich, la femme derrière le célèbre blogue Ugly Mely, est passée nous rendre une petite visite. Nous l’avons vu pour la première fois à la Boutique il y a déjà 6 ans – on ne voit pas le temps passer. C’est une bonne année pour Amel ; elle s’occupe des réseaux sociaux de grandes compagnies telle que Nike, Vespa ou encore Chanel pour ne citer qu’eux, et a récemment travaillé avec Reebok sur une chaussure de sport. Nous lui avons posé quelques questions pendant qu’elle faisait son magasinage.

During her vacation here in Montreal, Amel Mainich, creator of the popular blog Ugly Mely, swung by OTH to pay us a little visit. Her first time at the shop was six years ago – time flies. This has been a big year for Amel, she recently collaborated on a sneaker with Reebok and manages social media for companies such as Nike, Vespa and Chanel, amongst others. We asked her a few questions while she was shopping.
If you had to choose another passion besides sneakers to focus on, what would it be?
Pez Dispensers.
Someone asks you to do a sneaker collaboration and tells you to use food as the inspiration source. What would you use?

Le Matos “Join Us” Album Launch // Le Matos – Lancement de l’album “Join Us”
Ça fait longtemps que nous connaissons les gars du groupe Le Matos et c’est avec un plaisir non dissimulé que nous annonçons le lancement de leur nouvel album, “Join Us”. Le party de lancement aura lieu à la boutique jeudi prochain, le 16 mai. Au programme, DJ set de 17H à 19H suivi d’une performance live à 20H. Le nouvel album sera en vente en vinyle sur place au pop up shop Le Matos. On se retrouve là-bas!

We’re grateful some American test pilot in the early thirties complained about permanent sun damage to his eyes (sorry Lieutenant John A. Macready). Thus was the genesis of our beloved Ray-Ban sunglasses. Men’s Spring Grooming: Body // Men’s Spring Grooming: Soins du corps
Cette semaine, la quatrième partie de notre série Spring Grooming pour Hommes est dédiée aux soins du corps. Tout le monde est au courant que le fast-food n’est pas recommandé pour la santé, mais saviez-vous que la plupart des savons et lotions en vente en pharmacie sont plus ou moins la même chose pour votre peau ? Voici de très bons produits naturels qui la nourriront tout en la gardant hydratée tout l’été.
Rien de mieux qu’une bonne douche froide pendant les grandes chaleurs et s’offrir ainsi un parfum agréable et une aura fraîche presque visible à l’oeil nu. Oubliez pèches, crème et gousses de vanille – utilisez la barre Doug de Maak Soap Lad (6) aux essences de sapin, de cèdre et de menthe. Le Sea Bar (7), également de Maak Soap Lab, et ses huiles essentielles d’arbre à thé et d’eucalyptus ainsi que sa luffa séchée donneront à votre peau une exfoliation supplémentaire. Portland General Store propose le Savon Hunting Camp (8), fait depuis une recette qui offre une exfoliation en profondeur, parfait pour les mains, les pieds et les types de peau plus dures.
Maintenant que vous sentez bon, pourquoi ne pas continuer dans ce sens. Essayez le déodorant (2) Baxter of California, sans alcool ni aluminum. This week, in part IV of our Men’s Spring Grooming series, we cover the body. It’s common knowledge that fast food isn’t healthy, but did you know most of the soaps and lotions we buy at the drugstore are basically fast food for your skin, containing harmful chemicals? Here are some great natural products that will nourish your skin while helping you stay fresh all summer long.
What a great feeling it is to take a nice cool shower on a hot day and have the very scent of freshness form a light mist around you. Forget peaches and cream or vanilla bean – use the Doug Bar from Maak Soap Lab (6), and feel like you’re showering in a waterfall with its fir, cedar and peppermint scent. Also from Maak Soap Lab, is their Sea Bar (7) with eucalyptus and tea tree essential oils, the dried luffa will give your skin a little extra exfoliation. Now that you smell awesome, let’s keep it that way. Try Baxter of California’s aluminum and alcohol free Deodorant (2). Its citrus and herbal musk scent will protect you against unwanted odors. Retain your skin’s moisture with Baxter’s Hand and Body Moisturizer (1). Great for all skin types, this plant-based lotion will keep your skin smooth, not greasy. Speaking of smooth – your lips will be grateful (your partner too) if you pick up LipJao from Jao Ltd (4). It is claimed to be “formulated for lip balm snobs”, no very-cherry-berry here. The Goe Oil from Jao Ltd (5) is a multipurpose formula that you can use to soften rough heels and elbows or style your hair – practical, we like that. However it only comes with the Jao “Staycation Amenities Pak”, which is fun way of saying “essentials”. Another product that comes in this small bundle is the Jao Hand Refresher (3), which serves both as a disinfectant and aromatherapy boost. How you ask? We are very excited to announce the OTH X Timex Weekender collaboration. We curated these three styles with a “military chic” inspiration in mind. The straps were chosen to create a harmonious ensemble, yet each one stands well on its own.
