Canadian Expedition: Vancouver

It’s getting pretty irrelevant to post photos of my trip across Canada since I’ve been back for a month now, but I still wanna grace you guys with images from the west coast. I was very excited to get to Vancouver, it’s a very nice city. Nothing even approaches Montreal’s atmosphere, but I still grandly appreciated Van city. I spent most of my time in gastown, which is Vancouver’s first downtown core. It is named  after “Gassy” Jack Deighton, a Yorkshire seaman, steamboat captain and barkeep who arrived in 1867 to open the area’s first bar. Although there’s a lot of crackheads and the back alleys look more like a scene from 28 days later than anything, this neighborhood is filled with interesting retail, food & tattoo spots. I’ve spent some times with the guys over at HAVEN and I also checked out Roden Gray, Alife, Stussy and the recently opened Neighbour.

What is the most impressive about the West coast is their landscape. They are located in the Rockies, so looking around often blesses you with a breath taking landscape.

  1. Nice pix. One point: Vancouver is about 900km away from the Rocky Mountains. The mountains you’re looking at are the Coast Mountains.

  2. No Livestock?! That’s the best shop in Vancouver.
