Qui est Johnny Crap ?

Un concepteur freelance de produits dérivés, un artiste, un illustrateur, père de deux enfants, adepte des Boston Terriers, amateur de Whisky, de hardcore, black metal, rap old school et de neo folk, un fumeur de cigare occasionnel, cycliste, peintre de plein air, montréalais, qui aime la cuisine, et tout ce qui touche au chocolat, Jonathan Bergeron. J’ai fait des produits pour Slayer, Black Label Society, Slash, Anthrax, Pantera, Kid Rock, Alice Cooper, Motorhead et pour des marques comme Us Versus Them, Barnaby Black, Mishka, Nike, Under Armour, Dethrone Royalty, Headrush.

Quelle est la petite histoire derrière ton travail sur la murale Vans-OTH?

Je me suis juste senti de dessiner ce que je pouvais faire de bien sans passer par l’étape des croquis. J’avais l’habitude de produire beaucoup de choses du type Kustom Kulture pour des collectionneurs, des marque de vêtements ou encore des magazines automobiles. J’y ai aussi glissé ce personnage de calavera que je fais depuis des années.

Qu’est-ce qui t’a donné envie de faire ce que tu fais ?

Un peu la même chose que pour d’autres artistes, créateurs ou musiciens… Dans ma tranche d’age au moins. Le BMX, le skateboard, le punk, le hardcore et les graffitis. C’est grâce à tout ça que j’ai fini par faire ce que je fais. Tout cela a été d’une grande influence sur ma vie.

Si tu pouvais choisir une voiture, laquelle serait-elle ?

Une Chevette noire et plate avec des roues de monster truck.

Une histoire marrante ?

Quand mon fils avait à peu près 8 mois, il a vomi le lait de sa mère dans ma bouche et mes yeux pendant que je lui faisais faire l’avion. La même chose vient d’arriver avec ma fille, elle vient de me vomir sur la barbe. J’apprendrai jamais. Ça va ton petit dèj’?

Quel est ton modèle Vans préféré ?

Ce que je préfère c’est le modèle old school, basses ou montantes.

What’s the story behind your Vans-OTH board piece?

I just felt like drawing something that I was comfortable to do without any sketches. I used to do lots of Kustom Kulture type of art for collectors, clothing brands and hot rod magazines. I also incorporated that calavera character I have been doing for years.

What or who got you into the things you do?

Same story as most of my fellow artists, brand owners, musicians…in my age bracket at least, BMX, Skateboarding, punk, hardcore and graffiti. That’s how I ended up doing what I do. That stuff was the biggest influence in my life.

If you could drive any car, which one would it be and why?

a flat black Chevette with monster truck wheels.

Funny story?

When my son was about 8 months old he puked boob milk in my mouth and eyes as I was doing the plane with him. Same thing just happened with my daughter, she just vomited boob milk in my beard. I will never learn. How’s your breakfast?

What’s your favourite Vans shoe model?

All about the old school model, hi or low.

This Friday, May 28th, will be metallic hardcore band, Integrity’s first time north of the boarder in eight years. We’re going to be offering you a chance to see these pioneers of their craft live at Foufounes Electriques – all you have to do is pass by the shop and name every album they ever released. You can do that.
